New Delhi is the Capital of Republic of India. Each crumbling wall of the city has a story to tell. The architecture of the city gives a deep insight into the glorious past of the country.
In the afternoon we will go for sightseeing tour of Delhi. We shall first visit Raj Ghat. Raj Ghat is a beautiful memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. There is a black granite marble that marks the spot of cremation and an eternal flame burns at one end, day and night. The memorial was designed in such a manner that it reflects the simple life of Gandhi. His last words “Hare Ram” are inscribed on the platform.
Then we visit Red Fort which is situated at the banks of river Yamuna. Red Fort tells the rich history of Mughal architecture during its Golden period. The imposing walls of the fort are constructed with red sandstone and the interiors of the fort are made of pure white marble.
Next, Take a Rickshaw ride through the intricate lanes of Chandni Chowk, the famous bustling market of old Delhi to reach Jama Masjid, which is one of the largest mosques in Asia. The leaning towers are constructed away from the main building so that if there is an earthquake, there is no harm to the monument. The bird’s eye view from minarets provides a spectacular view of the city.
